The Milwaukee Press Club and the Rotary Club of Milwaukee will co-present a Newsmaker Breakfast featuring Marc Lasry, new co-owner of the Milwaukee Bucks, on Monday, June 23, from 7:15 to 9 am in the Memorial Hall at the War Memorial Center, 750 N. Lincoln Memorial Drive.

Lasry and business partner Wesley Edens recently acquired the Bucks from former U.S. Sen. Herb Kohl for $550 million.

The Milwaukee Press Club presents the Newsmaker series to shed light on topical issues. The public is invited to attend the luncheons. Lasry will be interviewed at the Newsmaker Breakfast by a panel of Milwaukee journalists. The event will be moderated by BizTimes executive editor Steve Jagler.

Lasry is the chairman, chief executive officer and a co-founder of Avenue Capital Group. Founded in 1995, Avenue is a global investment firm with over $13 billion of assets under management. Avenue maintains its headquarters in New York with offices in London, Luxembourg, Munich and throughout Asia.

Prior to founding Avenue, Lasry co-founded Amroc Investments LLC and managed capital for Amroc Investments L.P., the predecessor firm associated with Robert M. Bass Group Inc. In addition, Lasry was co-director of the Bankruptcy and Corporate Reorganization Department at Cowen & Company and previously served as director of the Private Debt Department at Smith Vasiliou Management Company. Lasry also held a clerkship for the Honorable Edward Ryan, former Chief Bankruptcy Judge of the Southern District of New York.

The cost to attend is $20 for MPC members and $25 for non-members. Breakfast is included. Seating will be limited. Registration deadline is June 18. Advanced registration and payment are required and may be done online at www.milwakeepressclub.org.
