Mine plans raise economic hopes and environmental fears
Wisconsin is known as the Badger State. However, the state's nickname does not come from the short-legged member of the weasel family, portrayed by University of Wisconsin mascot Bucky Badger. The Badger State name is actually derived from lead miners who were called badgers because they borrowed into holes in the southwestern part of the state in the 1800s.
Green marketing should be effective and true
Companies whose product or service has some environmental benefit, or a component that is less environmentally harmful than a competitor, have a significant motivation to get the word out to consumers.
Mining opportunity
As global populations rise and the middle class emerges in developing countries like China, India, Brazil and others, the demand for food is increasing. As countries clear more land and improve farming practices, they are increasing the use of fertilizer, which has helped drive the demand for pot ash, a mined mineral that is a raw ingredient in many fertilizers.
