New deal website launches for Milwaukee area consumers

Living Social, a group shopping website that offers discounted prices on local food products and services, is now available for Milwaukee area consumers. The city of Milwaukee is part of a large expansion plan that includes 21 other cities in the U.S. and seven more in Canada and the U.K.
According to Troy Angus, Living Social marketing consultant for the greater Milwaukee area, the company, based in Washington D.C., operates in 93 markets around the world.
“Milwaukee has always been part of the expansion plan for the company,” Angus said. ” I came on board a few months ago, because I know the area and I know what consumers and businesses are looking for.”
Living Social has experienced sales representatives at the ground level in all of their cities.
“It’s not just a coupon site,” Angus said. “It’s basically a social media platform that helps connect consumers with local businesses in the area. It’s a win win for everyone. Businesses can sign up at no cost and get their name out their to consumers who will prepay, come through their doors and hopefully turn into repeat customers. And the consumer will hopefully walk away not only saving a lot, but also with a great experience.”
Living Social consumers can save 50 to 90 percent on some restaurants products and services in the Milwaukee area, Angus said. Deals in Milwaukee will consist of mostly restaurants, entertainment opportunities, salons, spas and services in the area, he said.
Interested consumers can sign up at www.livingsocial.com to receive the site’s “Daily Deal” in their email inbox.
“Consumers can purchase the daily deal and then choose to share it with other friends via Facebook, Twitter or email,” Angus said. “We’ve made it really easy for them to stay connected and share.”
If three other individuals purchase the daily deal from one of the venues where a consumer shared, that individual will receive his or her daily deal for free, Angus said.
“We love launching in great new markets – places we all enjoy visiting and taking in the local culture. We’re really excited to work with local merchants in all of these new markets to offer residents and visitors a chance to try out restaurants, shops, services, and attractions at amazing prices,” said Tim O’Shaughnessy, CEO and co-founder of LivingSocial. “We’re growing fast, but our Deal experience will remain the same, top quality merchants, significant savings, and customized and tailored deals.”
