A new restaurant is bringing Caribbean-inspired food to Milwaukee’s Halyard Park neighborhood.

Jewels Caribbean has taken over the former Playmakers Sports Center space, located at 2230 N. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Drive, and will open on Saturday, Nov. 24.

Owner Lennora Jules is behind the new semi-upscale eatery, bar and lounge that will serve cuisine from Saint Lucia, Trinidad, Tobago and Jamaica, as well as Caribbean-inspired cocktails. Jules was not immediately available for comment.

Jewels Caribbean will be open Tuesday through Friday, serving for lunch and dinner everyday, with the addition of breakfast on Saturday and Sunday. Its bar will be open until 1:30 a.m. on weekends, according to its Facebook page.

The restaurant will hold a grand opening celebration this Saturday from 6 to 9 p.m., according to an announcement.
