Bristol Woods Park in Bristol will soon offer more than just greenery and hiking trails.

Next month, the 200-acre Kenosha County park, located west of I-94, will become home to Boundless Adventures, an aerial adventure park featuring ziplines, high-ropes challenges and obstacle courses for both children (ages seven and older) and adults.

Boundless Adventures will take over six acres with nine treetop obstacle courses that include 20 ziplines, more than 100 rope bridges and three “leaps of faith.”

The park’s grand opening celebration is set for Memorial Day weekend, Saturday, May 25 through Monday, May 27.

“We are extremely excited about this partnership with Boundless Adventures,” said Jim Kreuser, Kenosha County executive. “This is an attraction unique to our county and our region, and I’m proud that it will be housed in Bristol Woods Park.”

The Kenosha adventure park is New York-based Boundless Adventure’s first Midwest location and third park in the U.S., joining locations in Purchase, N.Y. and Berlin, Mass.

“Come and enjoy maneuvering through nature in an environment that fosters confidence, self-esteem, and independence among other positive attributes, all in the name of fun,” said Brian Funtleyder, Boundless Adventures co-owner.

The park’s nine courses are ranked by level of difficulty– beginner, intermediate, advanced, and expert. Participants choose courses based on age, height, fitness level and comfort zone, according to its website.

To ensure safety while on a course, participants wear a full-body harness and use a belay system that keeps them attached to a safety line at all times.

As an environmentally friendly park, Boundless Adventures uses equipment and apparatuses that protect the trees and doesn’t impede their growth, said Funtleyder. Plus, the park is built and inspected to the standards set by the Association for Challenge Course Technology.

“The methods used to attach to trees have been developed with longevity and growth in mind,” he said.

From May 25 to June 14, Boundless Adventures will operate on its spring schedule, opening on Saturdays and Sundays from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. Starting June 17, it will extend those hours of operations to include weekdays from 9 a.m. to 6 p.m.

General admission is $49 for youth (7-11) and $55 for adults (ages 12 and over). Tickets are valid for three hours of climbing time, which includes a 30-minute orientation.

Boundless Adventures can also be rented out for birthday parties, corporate outings, nonprofit events, school trips and other events. The park can accommodate groups of up to 250 people.
