NARI members team up with Rebuilding Together to renovate 50 area homes

Members of the Milwaukee/NARI Home Improvement Council, Inc., have partnered with Rebuilding Together Greater Milwaukee to make renovations at no charge to 50 Milwaukee area homes before the end of May, which is National Home Improvement Month.

“The goal of program is to make the homes of 50 elderly, disabled, military veterans, and families in need safer and more accessible,” said Dave Amoroso, Milwaukee/NARI president.  “As Milwaukee/NARI celebrates its 50th anniversary, we realize the need has never been greater.  America’s low-income homeowners are faced with daunting challenges in an attempt to manage food and health care along with basic home maintenance, struggling to retain homeownership in neighborhoods. Working with Rebuilding Together Greater Milwaukee makes it possible for homeowners to remain in safe and healthy homes, plus keep their independence and dignity.  Milwaukee/NARI and its members are excited to give back in such a meaningful way to our community.”
The work that will be conducted will ensure that the homes will be safer for its occupants, Amoroso said.
More than 30 participating Milwaukee/NARI member companies will make a variety of renovations to the homes, including installation of nightlights and wireless switching, stair hand railings, energy start light bulbs, hand shower, non-skid tapes for stairs, benches and shower chairs, grab bars and smoke and carbon monoxide detectors.
“The call went out to association members, and in a few days, we had more than 30 companies offering their assistance, providing one person to a full crew for a couple hours up to a full day,” Amoroso said.  “Milwaukee/NARI members know the importance of giving back to the community to keep it strong. We’re thankful to these outstanding companies for giving their talent and energy to help make homes more comfortable while providing the homeowners with a greater sense of security.”
