Milwaukee-area highway projects advance

The Wisconsin Transportation Projects Commission has approved moving ahead with environmental work on two Milwaukee-area highway projects recommended by state officials.
One of those projects covers a 14-mile segment of I-43 in Milwaukee and Ozaukee counties, between Silver Spring Road and Highway 60. The state says about 45 percent of the corridor has a crash rate significantly greater than the statewide average.
The other project covers a 3.5 mile stretch of I-94 in Milwaukee County, from 70th Street to 25th Street. The state says nearly 90 percent of this stretch has a crash rate above the statewide average.
The two Milwaukee-area projects were part of a slate of six projects statewide that approved by the commission.
