What kinds of moving services does your company offer?

“Complete turnkey relocation services for businesses in virtually every market segment, from office to industrial. This includes disassembly of all office technology, furniture and equipment; safe packing and transport to a new location; and reassembly and installation of all moved items in the new space. We also work with corporations on the relocation of their employees, including full-service packing and storage solutions.”

What’s new at your company?

“We look forward to celebrating the 50th anniversary of Anchor Moving Systems on October 1. The company was founded by my grandfather, William Forrester, Sr.”

Do you plan to hire any additional staff or make any significant capital investments in your company in the next year?

“We always add 10 to 15 part-time movers in summer, which is peak season for both business and executive relocations. We will also continue upgrading our fleet of trucks.”

What will be your company’s main challenges in the next year?

“We are always seeking employees who are willing to work hard and build a career.”

What has kept your company in business for 50 years? How are you celebrating your 50th anniversary?

“We pride ourselves on taking good care of our employees, many of whom have twice the average industry tenure with our company. We are continually adapting to new market opportunities and ever-changing office equipment. For example, we recently introduced a new computer cart that can safely transport a dozen flat-screen computer monitors. We added installation services in recent years for business furniture sellers who don’t offer installation. Anchor is continually on the cutting edge of employee relocations. As for our 50th anniversary, we are planning a hearty celebration with our employees and long-tenured customers.”

Do you have a business mantra?

“The answer to every customer question should be ‘yes.’”

What was the best advice you ever received?

“No one ever achieves greatness just by showing up.”

What’s the funniest thing that ever happened to you in your career?

“En route to an appointment, I got stuck between floors in the elevator of a client’s downtown building for 2-1/2 hours. I still made the appointment, and the client understood because the same thing happened to someone in their office the week prior.”

What is the most challenging move your company has completed?

“We moved an office of 1,500 employees for a customer in the banking industry from Overland Park, Kan., to Minneapolis. The month-long process involved 1,000 cubicles, 500 private offices, and all the attendant technology and related equipment.”

What do you like to do in your free time?

“Golf, volleyball, camping with my family, hunting and attending Brewers games.”
