The firm will move to the building from a 4,000-square-foot space that it currently leases at 7100 W. Donges Bay Road in Mequon. It will occupy about 9,500 square feet of space in the new building and will lease 1,600 square feet to "a tenant that will compliment our business," said Jim Marshall, president and founder of Spectrum Investment Advisors.

The company has 14 employees and is adding about 1-3 employees each year. The space in the new building will have enough room to accomodate 40 employees, Marshall said.

"It will take awhile (to fill) but we want to build it for long term growth," Marshall said.

The new building will also raise the company’s profile in Mequon. Donges Bay Road only has a daily traffic county of 4,500 vehicles, but Mequon Road has a daily traffic county of 22,000 vehicles, Marshall said.

"This will give us more visibility and allow us to be more involved in the community," he said.

The vast majority of Spectrum’s business is in 401(k) plan management. The firm also provides wealth management services.
