Local businesses band together, sell out charity event

Organizations:

Local business owner, Tammy Flynn will host “An Evening of Elegance” event on Saturday, April 24. The event is completely sold out and entirely funded by local business owners. All proceeds will benefit Children’s of Wisconsin and Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin.
Flynn organized the fundraiser in response to the attention and care her son received from the two organizations.
More than fifty local businesses have decided to help fund the event, which will be held at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Wauwatosa.
“It is a pioneer charity event in that all of these businesses have donated everything from the space to the decorations to the food,” Flynn said.  “What that means is that everything we earn from ticket sales and raffles will directly benefit both the Children’s Hospital of Wisconsin and Make-A-Wish Foundation of Wisconsin.  We hope to raise $50,000.”
The event organizers have secured more than $200,000 in in-kind donations to host the event.
More than 260 people will attend the event. Corporate tables of ten were sold for $500 and individual tickets were sold for $40 a piece.
“The success of the event has been amazing to me,” Flynn said. “With this being the first year, we didn’t really know what to expect. But seeing its success, will allow me to effectively plan for next year as we make An Evening of Elegance and annual happening.”
Hotel officials have donated the grand ballroom, service and a large raffle prize of a getaway to High Peaks Resort in New York, have relaxed their rules regarding outside caterers, and the meal and dessert stations will be catered by several, top-notch local restaurants including: Tutto, Carnevor, Umami Moto, The Grove, Charro, Innovations, Crawdaddy’s, Simma’s Bakery, Philoptochos Ladies Society, 88 Keys Piano Martini Lounge, Hotel Metro, Claim Jumper, Canfora Bakery and Le Cakery.  Entertainment will be provided by Music on the Move Plus and the Milwaukee Youth Symphony Orchestra.  Décor will be provided by Alfa Flowers and all graphic design promoting the event will be created by Uncommon Affair, Inc.
