Lakeland University, a liberal arts college in Sheboygan County, unveiled plans Monday for a $2.8 million multipurpose athletic field that will host the school’s football, soccer and lacrosse teams.
Plans call for the stadium, which will have artificial turf, lights, bleachers and a press box, to be completed in time for the fall 2017 sports seasons.
The facility will replace Lakeland’s Taylor Field.
“Taylor Field has served us well for nearly 50 years,” said Lakeland University President Dan Eck. “The new Taylor Field that will be part of this facility will allow us to better serve our students, our alumni and the community. It’s another exciting step forward in our evolution as Lakeland University.”
Lakeland University has around 3,800 students. The university said in a statement it is in talks with local partners to raise money for the project and negotiate naming rights for the new stadium.
