Lakefront unveils Stooges sculpture

Lakefront Brewery, in conjunction with the release of its seasonal Pumpkin Lager beer, recently unveiled a new ‘Three Stooges’ sculpture next to the entrance of the Brewery

Lakefront Brewery, in conjunction with the release of its seasonal Pumpkin Lager beer, recently unveiled a new ‘Three Stooges’ sculpture next to the entrance of the Brewery.
The sculpture originally appeared as murals that were painted on kettles in the brewery’s original Riverwest neighborhood location in 1993 by artists Glenda Puhek and Tim Ladwig. They moved with the brewery when it expanded to a larger location in Milwaukee’s Brewer’s Hill area in 1999. They lasted there until 2009, when the kettles were replaced.
Lakefront owner Russ Klisch couldn’t bear to get rid of the original tanks, but commissioned local artisan Paul Bobrowitz to take the murals off the original tanks, restore them and turn them into sculptures. Bobrowitz also painted additional faces on the back of the pieces.  The original artists as well as Bobrowitz were on hand for the unveiling.
