What was the smartest thing your company did in the past year?

“As a technological innovations company, we are constantly solving technology needs for our clients. We developed, birthed out of a client need, an innovative VoIP communications server that we call Cubix. We are able to use Cubix to build IP voice networks for our clients and save them a considerable amount of money when compared to traditional telephony architecture. Through leveraging our strategic partnerships, we are able to work with industry leaders in the VoIP hardware market. IP phone technology from leaders like Cisco and Polycom have been key in the development of Cubix.  By leveraging the power of Cubix, our clients have been able to streamline their voice communications throughout their organizations, and enhance the bottom line through communications cost reduction.”

What’s new at your company?

“SIP Trunking. Not that many know what this is, but with SIP Trunking we can leverage the expanse of the Internet to securely and reliably carry voice traffic and connect calls to either other IP users or regular telephone network users. Also, when we couple Cubix with our Cubix Connector technology, your company’s voice network can appear as one system regardless of geography. For example, one of our clients has five locations throughout the state. By using the Cubix Connector, they are able to dial by extension (four digit dial) from Madison to Eau Claire without the long distance fee. It’s just like the office in Eau Claire is really down the hall!”

Do you plan to hire any additional staff or make any significant capital investments in your company in the next year?

“Oh yes, we plan to add at least another 15 to the team by the end of 2008. As a growing innovations firm, we are consistently investing in research and development products, specifically in the IP voice space that we can bring to market. Milwaukee companies recently have embraced new technologies on the voice communications side. I think the initiative to reduce line items on the budget and consolidate accounts receivables has driven local CFOs to investigate how they can use IP for voice communications. Our developments show them how.”

What’s the hottest trend in your industry?

“Hosted IP voice services for businesses with less than 15 employees, or businesses with several remote workers. Boevo plans to have a hosted solution by mid-2008, and we already have clients in the BETA phase of this development.”

Do you have a business mantra?

“At Boevo, we help you win by solving your technology needs through innovation!”

From a business standpoint, who do you look up to?

“David Li, CEO of Grandstream Networks. Now here’s a guy who took a realistic look at a very competitive market (IP handsets) and took the bull by the horns and charged right in, unafraid. Grandstream was profitable in the first year they started shipping products, and continues to be an industry leader in innovation. Now, that’s just awesome!”

What was the best advice you ever received?

“What my business partner and executive vice president of our company, Ben Palmer, told me during a very key time in the growth of Boevo. He said, ‘Sean, if we are ever going to accomplish our vision, we need to systemize and stabilize what we have, we do not want to topple over!’ It made me think of that game ‘Topple’ and gave me some mental imagery of a growing company – growing too fast and toppling over. Ouch!”
