Jumpstart on the Weekend

*Friday, Aug. 8, Newaukee will showcase the music of Esh The Singer and DJ Mohammad Shah during its 2014 season of the Koss Lunar Series at the Milwaukee Athletic Club Rooftop. The weekly music series, which Newaukee presents in partnership with the Koss Corporation, features live music, a DJ, food and beverage service. The series, free for Newaukee members, runs every Friday evening from 6 p.m. to midnight through Sept. 5. Attendees should plan to dress in business casual attire. *Friday, Aug. 8, through Sunday, Aug. 10, Arab World Fest will bring authentic Middle Eastern food, music and entertainment to Milwaukee’s festival grounds at Henry Maier Festival Park. Highlights of the 2014 festival include camel rides, a film festival, hookah and a marketplace. The festival will run from 5 p.m. to midnight on Friday, noon to midnight and Saturday, and noon to 10 p.m. on Sunday. Tickets cost $10 for adults, seniors and children at the gate. *Friday, Aug. 8, through Sunday, Aug. 10, the Milwaukee Brewers will play at home against the Los Angeles Dodgers. Friday’s game begins at 7:10 p.m., Saturday’s game starts at 6:10 p.m., and Sunday’s game starts at 1:10 p.m. Miller Park is located at 1 Brewers Way in Milwaukee. *Saturday, Aug. 9, Concordia University Wisconsin will host the inaugural Lake Moon Festival at its Mequon campus. The festival, free and open to the public, will feature live music, food, a 5K race, live artists and more. Naima Adedapo, a Milwaukee resident and finalist on season 10 of American Idol, will headline the music. The festival will run from 4 to 10 p.m. CUW is located at 12800 N. Lake Shore Drive in Mequon. *Saturday, Aug. 9, and Sunday, Aug. 10, the Wisconsin Designer Crafts Council will present its annual Morning Glory Fine Crafts Fair at the Marcus Center for the Performing Arts, located at 929 N. Water Street in Milwaukee. The fair, which will also be held on the grounds of Red Arrow Park, will showcase the work of 140 fine craft artists who specialize in ceramics, glass, leather, wood, photography, jewelry, fiber, enamel and more. An awards program for artists will be part of the festivities as well. The fair will run from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Saturday and Sunday and is free for patrons. For more information, click here.
