- Friday, Jan. 13 through Sunday, Jan. 15 The Big Chill, the ice and snow festival in Racine. The Big Chill will bring 17 of the state’s best two-person snow sculpting teams to Downtown Racine’s Monument Square. The sculptors will be compete for cash prizes, as well as the title of Wisconsin State Snow Sculpting Champions. The Big Chill is Wisconsin’s only state-sanctioned snow sculpting competition, and the winning team will advance to the U.S. National Competition in Lake Geneva in February 2013. The snow sculpting competition gets underway at 4 p.m. on Friday. The event will also feature 12 local and regional ice carvers working throughout downtown Racine. Vistiors are encouraged to vote for their favorite. Horse and carriage rides, refreshments and a visit from the Door County Dog Sled team are also scheduled for the weekend.
