Chicago-based Jones Lang LaSalle Inc., one of the world’s largest commercial real estate brokerage firms, last week established an office in the Milwaukee area.

The office, which will serve the entire state of Wisconsin, is led by Dan Jessup, who was the president of Brookfield-based Apex Commercial. Apex Commercial, which was affiliated with Santa Ana, Calif.-based Grubb & Ellis, has been dissolved.

The Milwaukee area Jones Lang LaSalle office is located in Apex Commercial’s former office space at 245 S. Executive Drive in Brookfield.

Jessup is being joined by former Apex Commercial broker Michael Streit in the Milwaukee area Jones Lang LaSalle office.

The office will focus on office and industrial brokerage, Jessup said. Jessup and Streit are both office brokers.

“Our first priority is to bring on an industrial market leader,” Jessup said.

Jessup hopes to add more office and industrial brokers in the office over the next five years.

“We anticipate the local Jones Lang LaSalle office is going to grow substantially over time, both in terms of boots on the ground, service lines and new clients,” Jessup said.

Jones Lang LaSalle has corporate offices in 48 U.S. cities and 70 countries around the world.

“Milwaukee, with its vibrant and well-diversified business landscape, provides us an opportunity to serve even more companies,” said Daniel Ryan, head of Jones Lang LaSalle’s Midwest region. “We are excited to be opening a Milwaukee-based corporate office and are thrilled to have a respected and seasoned real estate professional like Dan Jessup leading the charge for us.”

Jessup, 49, has more than 20 years of commercial real estate experience in the Milwaukee area.

“I had opportunities to join other firms but was drawn to Jones Lang LaSalle because of the power of its platform, the collaborative nature of the team and high caliber of people who work for the firm in Chicago and across the Midwest,” Jessup said. “Jones Lang LaSalle has the most complete platform of capabilities that will allow us to increase the level of service we provide to our current clients and other Wisconsin businesses.”

Jones Lang LaSalle is the property manager and leasing agent for The Shops of Grand Avenue in downtown Milwaukee. The firm is also marketing the half-built Staybridge Suites property in downtown Milwaukee. Jones Lang LaSalle also represents Milwaukee-based law firms Foley & Lardner and Michael Best & Friedrich in their real estate planning and lease negotiations.

One of the first assignments for the firm’s new Milwaukee area office will be overseeing leasing and property management efforts for four office buildings totaling 350,000 square feet of space in Waukesha and Brookfield.
