Johnson will be Milwaukee Press Club’s next Newsmaker

Readers of MKEpolitics are invited to attend the Milwaukee Press Club’s next Newsmaker Luncheon, which will feature Ron Johnson, the presumed Republican challenger to U.S. Sen. Russ Feingold (D-Wis.).
The event will take place on Friday, Sept. 24, from 11:45 to 1:30 p.m. at the Newsroom Pub in downtown Milwaukee at 137 E. Wells St.
Johnson is being challenged by Watertown businessman David Westlake in the Sept. 14 primary election. The winner will take on Feingold on Tuesday, Nov. 2. Polls have indicated the race between Feingold and the GOP frontrunner Johnson is in a dead heat.
Johnson is the chief executive officer of Pacur Inc. in Oshkosh. He and his wife, Jane, have three adult children. He obtained an accounting degree from the University of Minnesota. He is a board member and president-elect of the Oshkosh Chamber of Commerce.
A panel of professional journalists will interview Johnson during the Newsmaker Luncheon. The event will be moderated by BizTimes executive editor Steve Jagler.
The Press Club is presenting the candidates of the key races in Wisconsin politics in an ongoing series of Newsmaker Luncheons. Westlake and Feingold were featured in previous Newsmaker Luncheons.
The Milwaukee Press Club presents the Newsmaker Luncheons to shed light on issues of the day. The public is invited to attend the luncheons. The cost to attend is $15 for MPC members, $20 for non-members, $10 for students. Lunch is included. Seating will be limited.  Pre-registration and advance payment is required and may be done online at www.milwaukeepressclub.org.
