Glendale-based Johnson Controls Inc. on Wednesday named Trent Nevill a vice president and president for its Asia Pacific businesses.

Nevill will be based at the company’s corporate headquarters in Shanghai and will be responsible for driving enterprise leadership, strategy, fast-paced growth and functional management for all of Johnson Controls’ businesses across the Asia Pacific region. The company had $10.3 billion in revenue from Asia in 2015, accounting for nearly 28 percent of global sales.

“Johnson Controls has made a strategic commitment to China, as we continue to invest in our business there and build capabilities coincident with our new headquarters in Shanghai,” said Alex Molinaroli, Johnson Controls chairman and chief executive officer. “Trent’s experience with the company and demonstrated ability as a seasoned leader in our buildings business make him uniquely qualified to lead our Asia Pacific team through the next phase of growth for Johnson Controls in the region.”

Nevill will be the senior leader in the region. He joined Johnson Controls in 1995 as an account executive. He’s held various sales, operations and general management roles over the last 20 years, most recently serving as vice president and general manager for systems and services in North America starting in 2014.

Nevill holds a bachelor of science in industrial engineering from Texas A&M University. He replaces Beda Bolzenius, who was the top leader in Asia as vice chairman for Asia Pacific in addition to being president of automotive experience. He had been named as chief operating officer of Adient, the spin-off of the Johnson Controls’ automotive business, but is instead leaving the company.  Johnson Controls has not announced someone to replace him as COO when Adient launches.
