Johnson Controls names chief human resources officer

The board of directors of Glendale-based Johnson Controls Inc. has appointed Simon Davis as vice president, chief human resources officer for the company.

Davis was elected as a company officer and named vice president and assistant human resources officer in May 2014.

With this promotion, he succeeds Susan Davis who will continue as a company officer and member of the executive team in her role as executive vice president, driving efforts to build corporate leadership in the company’s Shanghai headquarters.

Johnson Controls announced its board of directors has appointed Simon Davis vice president, chief human resources officer for the company.

“Susan has provided strong expertise and experience as the company’s human resources leader for many years. Her thoughtful leadership and support of four CEOs has helped to shape Johnson Controls into the company we are today,” said Alex Molinaroli, chairman and chief executive officer. “Simon’s global experience and knowledge of the company, including leadership roles in multiple business units, make him the right person to lead our human resources capabilities forward.”

Since joining Johnson Controls in 1997 in the United Kingdom, Davis has held a broad range of human resources leadership roles across multiple business units, spending nearly 10 years in automotive experience in the United Kingdom and Michigan and five years as the human resources leader for Power Solutions.

In 2011, he was appointed vice president of talent strategy and organizational excellence for the corporation, where he was responsible for the establishment of global centers of excellence and shared services and led senior talent assessment and development.

Davis serves as the chairman of the board of the Milwaukee Urban League and as a member of the board of the Milwaukee Public Museum. Davis has a bachelor’s degree in business from Sheffield Hallam University in Sheffield, England.
