Kenosha-based Simix Reactive Solutions LLC manufactures and specializes in inorganic coatings that prevent and maintain the exteriors of buildings and cars.
The company recently signed a deal with Pittsburgh-based PPG Industries, which will distribute its car product, Simix Supreme Shield.
PPG is a manufacturer of coatings and specialty products and services and will now distribute Simix’s auto product through its refinished division.
Simix was founded in October of 2004 by Jeff Stanich, a Kenosha resident who is founder, president and chief executive officer of the company. Stanich works from his home and incorporates nanoparticle technology in Simix products so as to overcome the weaknesses of existing silicate coating technology, which allow for decay.
The Miami Dolphins used Simix products to coat the outside of Dolphins Stadium in 2005 and continue to reap the benefits of the self-renewing cleaning and protecting product.
Five of Simix’s products prevent and eliminate mold, algae and mildew without damaging the surface they are applied to. Additionally, the solution becomes a permanent part of the treated surface so it doesn’t need to be reapplied.
Simix Self Cleaning nanoparticle technology utilizes the ultraviolet rays of the sun and artificial lighting to help break down and loosen organic dirt and to prevent algae and mold growth, Stanich said.
UV light is present even on cloudy days or shaded areas, so the process works seamlessly throughout the day and in most artificially lighted areas. When rain or sprayed water makes contact with the treated area, the loosened dirt is carried away.
Simix’s products are harmless to the environment, resist microbial growth and bear a high resistance to heat flammability.
“In the next two to five years, their products will revolutionize the cleaning and maintenance industries,” said Patrick Balistreri, owner of Brookfield-based Al’s Window Cleaning.
Simix Multi-Surface Protector Plus polishes and protects everything from glass and appliances to plastic and vinyl. Other products, like the company’s Algae & Mold Preventer, protect roofs, concrete, brick and pool decks, to name a few, from algae and mold. Simix also offers a clear coat for automobiles, Simix Supreme Shield, that restores, seals, polishes and protects automobiles.
“I’ve never seen anything like it as far as a topical applicant that does what this does,” said Bob Watson, facilities manager at West Palm Beach-based Arrigo Dodge Chrysler Jeep, the nation’s largest Dodge-Chrysler dealership. “It’s an extreme sealant that’s incredible.”
Watson said the dealership spent thousands of dollars removing atmospheric fallout from vehicles, which causes some rust spotting on brand new vehicles. Now the dealership cleans and coats them with the auto product, and they’re completely protected, he said.
