Hhgregg closing Wisconsin stores

Electronics retailer moved into market in 2012

Organizations:

Indianapolis-based appliance and electronics retailer hhgregg will close its five Wisconsin locations, including three Milwaukee-area stores, the company announced Monday.

Hhgregg has been in the Wisconsin market since fall 2012.

The company said closing stores in Wisconsin would allow it to focus on growth and launch 25 to 30 new Fine Lines specialty stores over the next two years.

“As a natural course of business, we regularly evaluate our real estate positions to determine when and where new store openings, relocations or, at times, closings make the most sense for our customers and our company,” hhgregg said in a statement on its website.

In addition to the Milwaukee-area stores, located at 4585 S. 76th St. in Greenfield, 9140 N. Green Bay Road in Brown Deer and 5820 Durand Ave. in Racine, hhgregg will close two stores in the Green Bay area and a store in Vernon Hills, Illinois.

“We will assist associates and managers in applying for other opportunities with hhgregg, and within their community,” the company’s statement said.
