  • Dr. Christina Puchalksi, the founder and director of the George Washington Institute for Spirituality and Health, will be the featured speaker at the Medical College of Wisconsin’s ninth annual Medical Humanities Lecture scheduled for Thursday, Sept. 18 at 5 p.m. Puchalski’s lecture, The Essential Role of Spirituality in Clinical Care: A Whole-Person Model of Care,” is sponsored by MCW’s Medical Humanities Program. A book signing and reception will follow the lecture.

    The event, which is free and open to the public, will be held in the HRC auditorium at MCW, 8701 Watertown Plank Road.

  • The Wisconsin Harley-Davidson and the Rock River H.O.G. Chapter will hold the 20th annual “Ridin’ to a Cure” fundraiser from Friday, Sept. 26 to Saturday, Sept. 27 in Oconomowoc. Proceeds will benefit the Rock River Cancer Research Foundation, which supports breast cancer research at the Medical College of Wisconsin Cancer Center. 

    The festivities will begin at 6 p.m. on Friday, Sept. 26 with a survivors’ ride and a pre-registration party at the Olympia Resort and Conference Center, 1350 Royale Mile Road in Oconomowoc.

    The following morning, from 8:45 a.m. to 11:30 a.m., bikers will leave every 15 minutes from Wisconsin Harley Davidson, 1280 Blue Ribbon Drive in Oconomowoc, to ride a 50- to 70-mile route through the Kettle Moraine area. The route will end at the Olympia Resort, where a post-ride celebration event featuring speakers, a live auction, live entertainment, food and beverages will take place from 11 a.m. to 6 p.m.

    Participants must pledge a minimum of $40 to ride.

    Since 1995, this organization has donated more than $2.1 million to the MCW Cancer Center.
