Experis, a Milwaukee-based staffing and recruiting company within the ManpowerGroup family of companies, will hold a hackathon event titled “Experis Mission Mashup” Saturday to challenge area college students to find solutions to real-world company missions.

Teams of competitors will include three students specializing in marketing, digital media and information technology, and the missions will be judged with online gaming technology.

The event will also feature opportunities for networking and job searching.

“At Experis, we are committed to connecting with talented people who might be a fit for a client or for our own team,” said Steve Feest, recruiting director for Experis in Milwaukee. “When it comes to the next generation of works, we know that recruiting through the traditional career fair model doesn’t work. Rather than just listing skills on a resume, the Mission Mashup approach is an entertaining and fun way for Generation Y to showcase their problem-solving and collaborative abilities.”

Milwaukee-area professionals will vote for the winners of the event, providing feedback to each team about their projects. Cash prizes and internships with event sponsor Briggs & Stratton, also based in Milwaukee, will be awarded to selected teams.

“We are proud to be a part of the inaugural Experis Mission Mashup,” said Todd Teske, chairman, president and chief executive officer of Briggs & Stratton Corporation. “Innovation is critical to evolving our business, from engine design to operational efficiency, and we are continually looking for fresh ideas and talented individuals. We are pleased to team up with Experis for this unique opportunity to connect with the next generation of creative thinkers and our future workforce.”
