Glendale hotel sold for $6.7 million

Organizations:

The 162-room hotel at 4700 N. Port Washington Road in Glendale, formerly known as the Hilton Milwaukee River hotel, was recently sold by Green Lake-based MRI Partners to CMH Milwaukee River LLC for $6.7 million, according to state records.

The Hilton franchise for the hotel expired recently. The new ownership group plans to renovate the hotel, located along the Milwaukee River, and convert it into a Holiday Inn.

The hotel was built in 1974. The property also includes the Anchorage restaurant.

Last year Wisconsin International Academy submitted a proposal to buy the hotel and turn it into housing for Chinese students attending private high schools in the Milwaukee area.

However, that proposal was rejected by the Glendale Common Council.
