Fundraiser to promote neuroscience research

The Medical College of Wisconsin’s Neuroscience Research Center Board will host the annual Imagine More Dinner on Sunday at the Wisconsin Club in Milwaukee. The event focuses on research, prevention and treatment of diseases impacting the brain.

MCW’s Neuroscience Research Center is comprised of more than 40 distinguished faculty members involved in studying 30 neurological conditions including Alzheimer’s, Parkinson’s, Huntington’s, ALS, epilepsy, stroke, movement disorders, dementia and mental health.

The theme of this year’s dinner is the effects and stigma surrounding mental illness, and the critical need for better access to care and more research to focus on prevention and treatments for patients struggling with mental health disease and addiction.

The event will highlight the advancements of Dr. Jon Lehrmann, the Charles E. Kubly Professor and Chair of Psychiatry and Behavioral Medicine. Lehrmann has focused attention on the effects and stigma of mental illness and the critical need for research centered on improving treatments for patients and families dealing with mental health problems and addiction.

The event begins at 5 p.m. with a reception and silent auction, followed by dinner at 6 p.m., a short program and award presentation. Co-chairs for the event are Bonnie and Ned Timarac and Rachel and Benjamin Wagner. The Imagine More Host Committee includes Marlene and Bob Burris, Mary Jo and Don Layden, and Ann and Warren Pierson, who have made an additional donation to Neuroscience Research.

Sponsors of the event include presenting sponsors the Timarac and Johnson Family, reception sponsors Al and Anita Costigan, research sponsor Wells Capital Management, and program sponsor Habush Habush & Rottier S.C. Charitable Funds.
