Enviro groups pressure DNR on Milwaukee power plant air pollution

Two environmental groups want a court to force the DNR to issue an air permit for the Menomonee Valley Power Plant in Milwaukee — something the agency failed to do in the 18-month period required by law, the suit alleges.

Clean Wisconsin and the Sierra Club filed suit this week in Dane County Circuit Court.

The suit alleges that in 2009 the plant emitted more than 10.7 million pounds of sulfur dioxide, nearly 700 million pounds of particulates and other pollutants.
