Empire Level acquires American Level brand

Organizations:

Mukwanago-based Empire Level Mfg. Co. has acquired the American Level product line from M-D Building Products.

Empire Level will now assume all management and operations of the American Level line and will ship it from its Mukwanago headquarters and distribution facility. Empire has about 200 employees, and the company does not anticipate a significant increase in employment as a result of the product line acquisition.

“Management of the American Level product line will be integrated into Empire Level’s existing operational structure,” said Jenni Becker, president of Empire Level.

Empire designs and manufactures a wide range of levels for both contractors and do-it-yourself home improvement enthusiasts. The company’s products are sold through contractor suppliers and home improvement big box stores.

The American Level line presented Empire with a nice add-on to its existing wood levels, Becker said.

“The American brand of mahogany levels offers and ideal combination of tradition and quality that complements our existing wood level line and the significant intellectual property that we will gain through this acquisition will allow us to further enhance and grow the line in the future,” she said.
