Emanuel plan would cut red tape for small business

    Mayor Rahm Emanuel has announced a proposal to restructure the city’s business licensing center with the aim of helping small businesses get licenses and find potential financial assistance more quickly.

    The mayor would appoint a chief small business officer to head a revamped licensing office that would serve as a one-stop shop for entrepreneurs under a proposal that is part of his 2013 budget, which will be taken up by the City Council next week.
