Elite Finishing LLC, a Milwaukee metal plating and finishing company, has added several new finishing options to its services and is preparing to launch another.
Elite Finishing LLC, a Milwaukee metal plating and finishing company, has added electroless nickel and copper plating on steel to its line of services. And by late this week or early next week, Elite Finishing will add another new capability, chrome finish over nickel plating, said Jamie Maliszewski, president and CEO of Elite Finishing. The nickel plating gives corrosion protection, while chrome finishing gives a hard surface, he said.
Elite Finishing is a subsidiary of Reliable Plating Works Inc., also based in Milwaukee. Elite Finishing has about 45 employees; Reliable Plating Works has more than 100.
Copper plating on steel is used for cosmetic purposes, Maliszewski said, and the company felt there was an opportunity to win new business by adding it. "Copper is a big finish with Harley Davidson (motorcycles)," he said. "They use a lot of it with the show-quality stuff."
Electroless nickel finish is used for corrosion resistance on high tolerance parts that cannot be plated with traditional nickel plating, Maliszewski said. "We’re plating the insides of aluminum bottles – air canisters," he said. "When they put caustic solutions inside and they don’t have nickel (plating), they can eat the aluminum."
