What has fueled your company’s growth? The primary driver of our growth has been the exponential growth in the adoption and use of the Internet as an effective communications platform to promote and sell products and services globally. Clients are increasing their use of this medium far more than print, radio, TV and other traditional media.
What is the biggest obstacle to your company’s growth? Trying to change our pricing model from cost-plus to performance-based compensation.
Do you plan any changes in your company in the upcoming months? In order to improve our expertise and competitive advantage in the Internet age we must constantly adapt to and learn new technologies. Specifically, we are continuing to expand our search engine marketing capabilities as well as our in- and out-bound direct marketing services.
Who are the business people, locally or nationally, whom you admire? And what traits do those people exhibit that make you admire them? Richard Branson for exceptional vision. Larry Ellison for audacious goal setting. Jack Welch for making big ideas bigger. And Jeffrey Immelt for successfully succeeding a legend. But, most importantly, my father, Dan Nelson, for being a true entrepreneur.
What is the outlook for the business conditions of your industry over the next several months? While growth in the marketing communications industry overall has slowed to around 4 percent per year, the areas of expertise on which we focus are still producing incredible year-over-year growth rates. Search engine marketing, e-mail marketing, and online advertising, to name a few, are all forecasted to grow by more than 20 percent through 2009.
