The Dow Jones Industrial Average gained another 80 points to pierce the 18,000 mark for the first time.
The historic rising marks the fifth-fastest 1,000-point rise in the history of the Dow, which broke the 17,000 mark on July 3.
Of the Dow’s 30 components, the largest contributors to the blue chip index’s latest 1,000-point gain have been the shares of Visa Inc. and Goldman Sachs which have added about 308 points and 165 points, respectively, to the index’s price.
The largest local gainers in the BizTimes Stock Index were ManpowerGroup Inc. (up $1.17 to $69.46), Snap-on Inc. (up $1.15 to $139.10), Kohl’s Corp. (up $1.03 to $61.60) and Generac Power Systems Inc. (up $1.00 to $47.53).
