Dems ponder campaigns to succeed Williams and challenge Sheriff Clarke

Milwaukee County Board Supervisor Elizabeth Coggs is one of at least four candidates considering a run for the seat of retiring state Rep. Polly Williams (D-Milwaukee).
Coggs said this week she is considering a campaign for the seat. Dem sources also indicated others looking at a bid include: Michelle Bryant, executive director of the African World Festival and a former aide to state Sen. Lena Taylor; Jenissee Volpintesta, who works for the AFL-CIO and is a former aide to Taylor; and Stephanie Findley, who works for AFSCME and ran unsuccessfully for the Milwaukee School Board in 2007.
Some Milwaukee Dems also believe they may soon have a challenger for Sheriff David Clarke.
Chris Moews, a lieutenant with the Milwaukee Police Department, will address the Milwaukee County Democratic Party tonight and could soon announce his candidacy, a Dem source says.
Clarke is registered as a Dem, but the county party has had its frustrations with him and endorsed his primary opponent four years ago.
