Construction to start soon on Quartet apartments

Construction of the six-story, 48-unit Quartet apartment building in Milwaukee’s Walker’s Point neighborhood is expected to soon begin.

Project architect Korb and Associates recently applied for the necessary building permits to begin construction on the project, located at the southwest corner of South Second and West Mineral streets.

Kevin Rogers, an architect with Korb and Associates, said the plan is to break ground around early March. He added that construction is expected to take about 16 months.

The 66,200-square-foot building also includes 2,120 square feet of ground level retail space. The loft-style, market-rate apartments range from one to three bedrooms.

Rogers said other than securing the permits, the project has cleared all hurdles with the city. Plans for the $4.5 million project were submitted to the Board of Zoning Appeals last summer.

The Quartet is being developed by New Land Enterprises, and will complement the TrioMKE project, a three-building, 120-unit apartment complex on West Washington Street between South First and South Second streets. That project, also also development by New Land, opened in July 2016.
