Magill Construction Co., Elkhorn, has been awarded the contract to build a 6,100-square-foot addition onto the Aquatic Center at the high school in Whitewater, which was recently purchased by Mercy Health Systems. The addition includes a 1,400-square-foot aerobics room, a 3,226-square-foot fitness area for workout equipment, offices and storage space.
Magill Construction completed the first phase of a 6,155-square-foot addition to the Aurora Clinic in Elkhorn early in October and will move forward with the remodeling of the original building in Phase II. The new addition includes several offices and exam rooms, storage rooms, a new lobby area, nurse’s station and a lab station.
Wilson Elementary School had renovation work done by Magill Construction this summer, similar to what the company did for the school in the summer of 2002. This year’s renovation work included 16,000-square-foot of classroom remodeling work.
Magill Construction has completed a 1,643-square-foot design-build addition for Lake Geneva Country Meats, giving it an expanded retail area, additional service counter space, a larger freezer area, packaging room and additional storage. The exterior was finished with fiber cement siding and cedar framing.
Magill Construction has been hired by Schweiger Furniture in Jefferson to make some loading dock modifications, including Kelly mechanical dock levelers, overhead doors, relocation of existing dock lights and new multi-rib siding.
Wedige Automotive Center in Elkhorn has hired Magill Construction to provide design-build services for a new 7,920-square-foot facility behind its existing building. The new building includes six service bays, a lobby/waiting area, office, lunch room and storage. The anticipated completion date is early spring.
The City of Elkhorn is moving forward with the building of a new 5,000-square-foot Parks and Recreation Building which should be complete by the first of the year. This new building includes office space, a reception/lobby area, a meeting room, toilet rooms and an open program room.
Creative Constructors, Menomonee Falls, has completed Best Friends Veterinary Center, formerly Grafton Small Animal Hospital, at 2082 Cheyenne Court in Grafton.
Creative Constructors has completed the Starbucks in the Midtown Center at 5610 W. Capitol Dr., Milwaukee, and a Starbucks in Oshkosh.
The Bentley Co. Milwaukee, has three Catholic churches in progress: St. Anne’s Parish, 9091 Prairie Ridge Blvd., Pleasant Prairie, where construction is under way on a 32,000-square-foot facility including worship space for 1,000 congregants, ministry suite, fellowship area, meeting rooms and kitchen. The exterior focal point will be an 80-foot steeple. St. Anne’s two-phase, site development/construction project, begun in May, is scheduled for completion in June, 2004. The architect is Groth Design Group, Cedarburg. St. Bruno Catholic Church, Dousman, will add new worship, offices and meeting space at 266 West Ottawa Ave., concurrent with renovating its existing church. Construction began in September with completion anticipated next August. The plans of Plunkett Raysich Architects, Milwaukee call for masonry construction with a wood timber ceiling. Sacred Heart Church, Highway 33 in Horicon, is the new name of the recently consolidated parishes of Immaculate Conception in Juneau and St. Malachy in Horicon. The 35,000-square-foot facility has been designed by Keppinger & Puttman Architects of Oshkosh for multi-use functionality that will accommodate worship, meeting, bible study, pastoral and administrative offices, hospitality and food preparation. Construction began in August. The Bentley Company is the general contractor for all above projects with Gordy Corrus, vice president, serving as senior project manager.
The Bentley Co. has been named general contractor for an addition and renovation to the Crossroads Presbyterian Christian Learning Center, 6031 West Chapel Rd., Mequon. Cedarburg Architects, Kubala Washatko, designed the 30,000-square-foot space, which includes new worship, fellowship, classroom and kitchen areas. The project also involves considerable site infrastructure improvements. Gordy Corrus, vice president at The Bentley Co., is serving as senior project manager. The renovation will be completed next August
The Cedarburg architectural firm Groth Design Group will design the 4,000-square-foot office space for Milwaukee’s Environmental Consortium at 1845 N. Farwell Ave. in Milwaukee. Several local environmental groups have come together to form the consortium. Those groups will share the office space, which will be designed using “green” materials and finishes such as bamboo, rubber, and environmentally friendly ceiling tiles and carpeting. Mika Frank is the project architect.
Selzer-Ornst Co., Wauwatosa, was selected to complete the Marjorie Center located on Blue Mound Road in Wauwatosa. The two-story, 20-bed community based residential facility (“CBRF”) will provide assisted living care for Alzheimer’s patients. Designed to blend into the surrounding residential community, this project presented many planning challenges including restricted site conditions and storm water drainage concerns for the neighboring residential sites. Designed by Torke Wirth Pujara Ltd. Architects, the project is scheduled to open in November. Lynn Stein of Selzer-Ornst Co. is the project manager for the project.
Selzer-Ornst has completed construction of the Harambee Early Learning Center on Auer Avenue in Milwaukee. The 17,000-square-foot brick building, which features two octagonal towers and several dormers, was designed to blend into the surrounding neighborhood. This state-of-the art day care facility is comprised of themed classrooms for children ages 6 weeks to 4 years, and comes equipped with a full service kitchen. Designed by BHS Architects, the facility opened for operation in September. Lynn Stein provided project management for the project.
National Survey & Engineering, a division of R.A. Smith & Associates, Brookfield, is providing sitework engineering and surveying services to Pabst Farms Development LLC for Eastlake Village – the first residential development in Pabst Farms, Oconomowoc. The Eastlake Village development includes 170 lots on 100 acres. Critical to the project is ensuring that the stormwater plan and sanitary sewer are adequate for this development as well as future development within Pabst Farms. The project is anticipated for completion in 2004.
National Survey & Engineering also provided sitework engineering and surveying recently for Ace Precision – the first manufacturer tenant on approximately eight acres in the Pabst Farms Commerce Centre of the Pabst Farms development. The project is currently under construction and anticipated for completion at the end of 2003.
In addition to these current projects in Pabst Farms, National Survey & Engineering previously completed the final designs and construction drawings for implementation of the stormwater management plan for the first 300-acre phase of the Pabst Farms project. National Survey & Engineering also provided land surveying services for all 1,500 acres of land planned for development.
Beyer Construction completed a construction project for St. John’s Lutheran Church at 2885 Division Rd. in Jackson. The church will hold a special service in November to dedicate the new sanctuary and gathering space. In September 2002, Beyer began construction of two additions totaling 11,200 square feet to accommodate a new sanctuary, future classrooms and a fellowship hall. Beyer also converted the existing sanctuary into a gathering space. A second addition was built featuring a new entrance with elevator and accessible drop-off area. Renovation of the existing areas consisted of multiple improvements, including accessible restrooms and expansion of the church offices. Beyer’s project team was lead by Brandon Applebee, project manager, and Ted Heidenreich, project superintendent. Architectural design was by Groth Design Group, Cedarburg, Mike Groth, project principal, and Chad Ochs, project architect.
The Redmond Co. has completed construction of Fox River State Bank at 256 N. Dodge St. Burlington. Designed by Redmond’s in-house architects, the 10,400-square-foot project required The Redmond Co. to turn an existing car dealership into Fox River State Bank’s first branch. The project included partial demolition and remodel of the existing building including a complete interior and exterior renovation and addition of a drive-through canopy. Fox River State Bank is the first new bank to open its doors in Wisconsin in more than two years. Developed by Gail Ellis and Barbara Bakshis, banking at Fox River State Bank began in July 2003.
Briohn Building Corp., Pewaukee, will design and build a 22,570-square-foot veterinary clinic and boarding facility for Pewaukee Veterinary Services in the Pewaukee Woods North development along Highway J.
Briohn Building remodeled and expanded the corporate headquarters of CleanPower at 124 N. 121st St., Wauwatosa.
Briohn Building designed and built out a 2,085-square-foot space in the Brookfield Towne Centre, 19035 W. Capitol Dr., Brookfield, for Design Toscano.
Bukacek Construction, Racine, has completed work on three Educators Credit Union branches. The first, in Milwaukee, is on Appleton Avenue and includes a complete interior remodel, new drive-up teller windows, new floorings and an expansive training facility. Also completed was a 3,500-square-foot addition to an existing branch in Greenfield and the remodeling of the Rapids Drive branch in Racine. Bukacek continues construction of corporate offices for Educators Credit Union on Newman Road in Racine. The new site will include the accounting division, the call center, the credit department and the board and conference rooms. The building will be done by the middle of 2004.
