Conservative ads target local Dems over trains

The Wisconsin Club for Growth started running radio ads this week targeting four Milwaukee-area Dems for their support of rail projects in southeastern Wisconsin.
The ads began Wednesday going after Sen. John Lehman and Rep. Cory Mason, both Racine Dems, while a similar spot targeting Sens. Jeff Plale, D-South Milwaukee, and Jim Sullivan, D-Wauwatosa, were slated to begin Thursday.
The ads highlight the high-speed rail line from Milwaukee to Madison and the proposed KRM commuter rail system. The spot also invites listeners to a March 23 forum on transportation with the Cato Institute’s Randal O’Toole.
"John Lehman and Cory Mason can’t spend our money fast enough," the ad running in Racine says. "First they supported spending $800 million on a high speed train no one will ride. Now they want to spend another quarter billion on a commuter rail line. And the state can’t even afford to fill our potholes."
