City to implement furloughs on Monday

The City of Milwaukee will implement a mandatory furlough program that includes a shutdown of most city services on Monday, April 5.
Per the 2010 City of Milwaukee holiday schedule, all city offices will be closed on Friday, April 2, in observance of Good Friday/Easter. Normal business hours will resume on Tuesday, April 6.
The majority of City of Milwaukee employees will not report to work on Friday or Monday. City Hall and all other city office buildings also will be closed.
The following city services will not be affected: Public safety, including police, fire and EMT; parking enforcement; the tow lot; water works 24-Hour emergency service call center and the City Hall operator.
Unlike past furlough days, garbage and recycling will not be collected April 5th. Garbage collection will resume on Tuesday, April 6th.
The city will implement additional furlough days this year on May 28, July 2 and Sept. 3.
