Portage County will renew its efforts to improve public transportation this week through a possible partnership with the city of Stevens Point. The city and county operate separate transit services, and the two might join together to improve the system for all of their users.

Cudahy-based asset-light transportation and logistics service provider Roadrunner Transportation Systems Inc. reported second quarter net income of $16.5 million, or 42 cents per share, up from $14.8 million, or 38 cents per share, in the second quarter of 2014.

Cudahy-based Roadrunner Transportation Systems Inc. today announced it has acquired El Paso, Texas-based Stagecoach Cartage and Distribution for about $35 million.
A unified approach to regional transportation, including transit
Over the last several decades, the economic vitality and growth of Milwaukee and southeastern Wisconsin have fared poorly to other metropolitan regions in the country, with rankings in comparative studies generally placing our region in the lower third of performance. Strong new growth efforts of the Water Council, the Midwest Energy Research Consortium, the Regional Health Center and stimulating entrepreneurism are helping matters. Hopefully the continued focus on specialty manufacturing, exporting and distribution will pay off as well.
Bublr Bikes to add 36 more stations by mid-2016
Bublr Bikes, the City of Milwaukee and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee on Monday announced plans to add 36 new bike sharing station locations, that are proposed to be added to the existing 11-station Bublr network, by mid-2016.
