BizTimes Milwaukee recently took a tour of the Brewhouse Inn & Suites, the new 90-room hotel that opened recently at 1215 N. 10th St. in the former Pabst brewery complex in downtown Milwaukee.

A groundbreaking ceremony was held recently to celebrate the start of construction for The Standard at East Library development at the former site of the East Library at 1910 E. North Ave., on Milwaukee's East Side. The Standard at East Library project will consist of a five-story building with 99 market rate apartments, a 16,000-square-foot grey box space for the East Library, and a 2,400-square-foot retail space.

After a multi-year period of low activity and loan problems, banks, insurance companies and other lenders have rediscovered commercial real estate and it may be the right time to discuss it with them.

Chicago-based Harrison Street Real Estate Capital recently purchased the property at 1400 W. Wells St. near the Marquette University campus for $2.5 million, according to state records, where a six-story private student housing development is planned.

ProHealth Care paid $6.995 million to purchase the 14-acre site in Pewaukee where it plans to build a $70 million, 116,000-square-foot, cancer center, according to state records filed Monday.

West Allis medical compression garment manufacturer Solaris Inc. plans to move to a new facility in Milwaukee’s Menomonee Valley Industrial Center.

Eveleth, Minn.-based OSI Environmental recently purchased a 33,515-square-foot building at 912 Tesch Ct. in Waukesha. The company plans to move its Milwaukee area operations there from its current location at 4702 N. 124th St., Wauwatosa.

Brian Parrish, a former partner and vice president for The Dickman Company Inc., recently launched his own commercial real estate brokerage and consulting firm.

“Designing Milwaukee” will be the theme of the 11th annual BizTimes Milwaukee Commercial Real Estate and Development Conference. The conference will be held on Thursday, Nov. 7, at Potawatomi Bingo Casino in Milwaukee.
