Construction has begun for MSP Real Estate Inc.'s City Center at Deer Creek apartment project at National Avenue and Coffee Road in New Berlin. The development will consist of three, 34-unit buildings of apartments ranging in size from 980-1,900 square feet. Most of the apartments will be operated as affordable rentals with 86 of the 102 units reserved for residents earning no more than 60 percent of the area median income. Fifteen units will be rented for market rate tenants with no income restrictions. Rents will range from $530 to $1,400. The project is expected to be complete by late summer of 2012.
