Modine Manufacturing Co. reported fiscal first quarter net earnings of $10.6 million, or 21 cents per share, up significantly from a $900,000 loss in the fiscal first quarter of 2013.

Stocks rise as jobless claims dip, manufacturing index surges

Stocks rose this morning as the federal government reported that the number of people who applied last week for new unemployment benefits fell to the lowest level since early 2008 and the Institute for Supply Management said its July manufacturing index surged to a reading of 55.4 percent up from. 50.9 percent in June, the highest level for the index since June 2011.

Rodriguez named president and CEO of Marcus Theatres

Milwaukee-based The Marcus Corp. announced today that Rolando Rodriguez has been named president and chief executive officers of Marcus Theatres, the company’s movie theater division.

Dohmen sells Restat for $409.5 million

Lisle, Ill.-based Catamaran Corp. will buy Milwaukee-based Restat from its parent company, Milwaukee-based Dohmen, for $409.5 million, the companies announced today. The deal is expected to close in the fourth quarter of this year.
