Dwindling Defense contracts clip earnings at Oshkosh Corp.

With the end of the Iraq War and the drawdown of troops in Afghanistan defense contractor Oshkosh Corp. today reported third quarter net income of $36.3 million, or 41 cents per share, down from $78.9 million, or 86 cents per share, in the same period a year ago.

Modine reports strong quarter

Racine-based Modine Manufacturing Co. today reported third quarter net earnings of $4.6 million, or 10 cents per share, compared with a net loss of $12.8 million, or 26 cents per share, in the same period a year ago.

Ad revenues rise at Journal Sentinel

Milwaukee-based Journal Communications Inc. today reported third quarter net earnings of $4.5 million, or 9 cents per share, down from $7.7 million, or 14 cents per share, in the same period a year ago.

Actuant finds buyer for Electrical Segment

Menomonee Falls-based Actuant Corp. announced today it has reached a definitive agreement to sell its Electrical Segment to Sentinel Capital Partners for $258 million in cash, subject to working capital and other closing adjustments.
