Aurora announces initial grant recipients of Better Together Fund

Aurora Health Care today announced that it is awarding a total of $6.6 million in grants through its Better Together Fund to nearly two dozen federally qualified health centers and free clinics throughout eastern Wisconsin. The funds will be used to help community-based providers improve access to primary care and behavioral health services.

Concordia to begin offering doctor of physical therapy accelerated track

This fall, Concordia University Wisconsin based in Mequon will begin offering incoming freshmen a Doctor of Physical Therapy (DPT) accelerated track for Bachelor of Science in Rehabilitation Science (BSRS). The university said the program is due to the increased demand over the next 10 years for physical therapists and the rising cost of education.

UWM, Milwaukee Fire Department launch paramedic training program

The University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee College of Nursing has launched a partnership to train fire department paramedics in community-based health care. The program will train paramedics to provide follow-up health care to frequent users of emergency medical services. Paramedics will receive training to support these patients and help change health behaviors before patients reach a crisis again.

Assurant Health to be sold or closed

Assurant Inc. announced it plans to sell or shut down its Assurant Health division, which is based in downtown Milwaukee.

Medical alliance rebrands with new name, areas of expertise

The Centers for Transfusion and Transplant Medicine, an alliance of medical organizations that includes Milwaukee-based BloodCenter of Wisconsin, is rebranding with a new name and logo while also broadening its areas of expertise.
