Clock Shadow Creamery opened in June in Milwaukee's Walker's Point neighborhood, officially becoming the first cheese factory ever within the city limits.

Since the terrible acts of violence committed last Sunday at the Sikh Temple in Oak Creek, our entire state has been focusing on supporting the victims, their families, and the survivors of this tragedy and on helping the entire community and state to heal. Our prayers remain with them, as we all struggle to comprehend the kind of evil that causes someone to take the life of another.

The Milwaukee Rescue Mission is teaming up with Disney and Hanes in a sock drive running until Sept. 3. The Milwaukee sock drive is part of a national initiative spearheaded by the Association of Gospel Rescue Missions along with The Walt Disney Studios and Hanes. As an AGRM member, the Milwaukee Rescue Mission sits at the forefront of the Milwaukee drive.

VISIT Milwaukee recognized Cecilia Gilbert, Russ Klisch and Tim Dixon with the 2011 Lamplighter Awards for each of their contributions in helping Milwaukee stand out as an attractive city to visit. All three were honored at VISIT Milwaukee’s annual meeting on July 26 at the Milwaukee Theatre, according to an announcement from the city tourism organization.
