Cara Spoto joins BizTimes Milwaukee as real estate reporter

Cara Spoto has joined BizTimes Milwaukee as a reporter to cover the commercial and residential real estate beat.

Spoto has more than 16 years of professional journalism experience. Previously, she was an associate editor for Up North News. Before that, Spoto was a reporter for the Waukesha Freeman, Racine Journal Times, Stevens Point Journal, the Journal-Standard in Freeport, Illinois and the Daily Herald in Illinois. She has experience covering state, county and city government.

During her career, Spoto has received numerous journalism awards from the Wisconsin Newspaper Association and the Milwaukee Press Club and the Illinois Associated Press Media Editors.

Spoto received a bachelor’s degree from the University of Minnesota in 2003 and a master’s degree from the University of Illinois-Springfield in 2006.

Spoto is the second reporter to join BizTimes Milwaukee in recent months. In late November, Ashley Smart joined BizTimes Milwaukee as a reporter whose beat responsibilities include startups, technology and manufacturing.
