The owner of Camp Bar has purchased the former MOD GEN building on Capitol Drive in Shorewood for event space.

Hackbarth Commercial LLC, which is registered to Paul Hackbarth, purchased the two-story building at 2107 E. Capitol Drive from DSK LLC, which is registered to Deborah Kern, of Milwaukee, for $1.1 million.

Hackbarth said he plans to remodel the space and reopen it as a wedding/event venue.

Hackbarth opened the Northwoods lodge-themed Camp Bar in Shorewood, 4044 N. Oakland Ave., in December 2012. He has since opened Camp Bar Tosa, 6600 W North Ave. in Wauwatosa and Camp Bar Third Ward, 525 E Menomonee St. in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward.

MOD GEN, a “modern general store” moved from Shorewood to 211-13 N. Broadway in the Third Ward in June after 15 years.

The store was originally known as “Garden Room,” and was rebranded as MOD GEN two years ago.
