C.G. Schmidt lands expansion project

Milwaukee-based C.G. Schmidt has been named construction manager for a $1.4 million addition at the Paper Machinery Corp. (PMC) headquarters in Milwaukee.

The project will begin in mid-July and will last about four months.

The 12,000-square-foot addition will allow PMC to expand its manufacturing and testing capabilities at 8900 W. Bradley Road.

“This additional manufacturing space will allow us to continue to grow and better serve the increasing customer demand for our equipment.” said Don Baumgartner, PMC’s chairman and chief executive officer.

Along with the addition of the facility, PMC is hiring 10 to 15 workers to support the expansion. The new manufacturing positions will be primarily for highly-skilled assemblers and machinists.

PMC is the world’s leading source of high performance forming machines for paper cups, paperboard canisters and custom paperboard packages. Started in 1951, PMC is a family-owned business. There are three generations of the family working at the company, which has grown significantly to employ more than 220 people in Milwaukee.
