Business leaders to share best practices at Future 50 Luncheon

The annual Future 50 Awards Ceremony will include a panel discussion featuring three of southeastern Wisconsin’s most vibrant business leaders, who will share insights about their best practices.

The luncheon to salute the fastest-growing companies in the region will take place on Thursday, Sept. 13, at the Hyatt Regency Milwaukee, 333 W. Kilbourn Ave., from 11:30 a.m. to 1:30 p.m.

The Future 50 Awards are presented annually by the Council of Small Business Executives (COSBE) of the Metropolitan Milwaukee Association of Commerce (MMAC).

The executives on the panel will include:

  • Laura Henderson, managing director of Whitefish Bay-based Teklynx International, the world’s leading developer of barcode labeling software solutions. The firm has emerged as a fast-growing organization with implementations in 75 percent of Fortune 500 companies.
  • Scott Mayer, founder, president and chief executive officer of Brookfield-based QPS Employment Group. QPS has grown from one office and two employees to more than 30 offices in the Midwest with a staff of more than 225 internal employees. QPS works with more than 5,000 associate (temporary) employees on a weekly basis. QPS is the largest independently owned staffing firm in the state of Wisconsin. Mayer also owns SPiN Milwaukee, a ping-pong nightclub in Milwaukee’s Historic Third Ward.
  • Omar Shaikh, co-owner and president of SURG Restaurant Group, which owns and operates several restaurants, including Ryan Braun’s Graffito in Milwaukee and the 8-twelve MVP Bar & Grill in Brookfield.

The master of ceremonies for the luncheon will be COSBE president Mary Scheibel, principal and founder of Trefoil Group.

The panel discussion will be moderated by BizTimes executive editor Steve Jagler.
