“Burkwald is well-respected for their benefits consulting expertise and their ability to anticipate and provide benefit solutions for their clients’ evolving business needs. Not only do they have a sales culture that matches ours, their team is also focused on high-quality customer service,” said J. Patrick Gallagher, Jr., chairman, president and chief executive officer. “In addition, their Milwaukee-area presence and solid industry relationships will be a terrific complement to our expanding employee benefits brokerage and consulting operation. We are pleased to welcome Dan and his associates to our growing Gallagher family of professionals.”

Burkwald, which was founded in 1978 and has 14 employees, offers management and employee benefits consulting and products to a Midwestern client base. Its employees will be retained and Burkwald will continue to serve clients from its Pewaukee location under the Gallagher brand, and with the direction of William Ziebell, Gallagher’s North Central employee benefit consulting and brokerage leader. Within the next 12 months, Burkwald employees expect to move into a space with Gallagher employees.

“This has been a very thoughtful decision made after much research and consideration about how the transition will impact our most important stakeholders – our employees and clients,” said Daniel Burkwald, president of Burkwald & Associates. “In an ever-changing health care and employee capital environment, it is not enough to simply adapt or change; rather, we must evolve and grow to offer clients the highest level of service and our employees more opportunity for professional growth. To that end, by partnering with Gallagher, we can now provide clients with an enhanced breadth of capabilities and resources as well as offer Burkwald employees the ability to expand their career opportunities.”
