What does your daily or weekly fitness regime consist of?
"I work out 5-6 days per week. I work out nearly every noon hour with a co-worker/work-out partner and at least once during the weekend. Our workouts consist of lifting weights, running, biking, or running steps. I also try to fit in swimming on a regular basis. Last year I participated in my first two triathlons (sprint distance), and I’m currently training to participate in three triathlons during the summer of 2007. Two of these triathlons will be of the Olympic distance, which consists of ~ one mile swim, 25 mile bike, and a 6.2 mile run. All of our training is geared to preparing for these triathlons."
Other than the obvious health benefits, how has being fit improved your life?
"Being fit increases my energy level, increases my self-confidence, and helps me maintain an active life style. With 3 teenagers our family is always on the go. Exercising is my most effective way to relieve stress. By being fit, I have more energy and endurance to maintain a great balance between work and outside activities."
How does personal fitness affect your work life?
"Physical fitness helps me maintain a high energy level throughout the work day. In addition, being fit helps fight off colds and illness and if I do get sick, which is rare, it helps result in a quicker recovery. I think my personal fitness helps control my employer’s health care costs and hopefully inspires others to lead a healthier life style."
