What was the smartest thing your company did in the past year? “We hired Patti Genko Communications to help us promote our offerings and streamline our marketing efforts.”

What’s new at your company?
“This year we changed our name from Bigler Baseball to Bigler Sports as we are now also offering Basketball, Football and Fast Pitch Softball. We then launched a brand new website that we are very excited about. This will open up many additional doors for our company and for our customers. We are also now promoting a unique opportunity for 13 and 14 year olds called the “Ultimate Tournament!”  which is planned for the Spring of 2012.

Do you plan to hire any additional staff or make any significant capital investments in your company in the next year? “Yes. We’ve already made a significant investment in our website and will continue to do so in the near future. We’ll also be purchasing some new equipment and have long range plans to add a few staffers to help us with our day to day operations.”

What will be your company’s main challenges in the next year? “I think we need to make sure that we don’t expand too fast. Doors have been opening and new opportunities are helping us to grow, but we want to make sure that we continue to focus on giving our customers the highest level of service as we have since day one and then expand as we are able.”

What’s the hottest trend in your industry? “I think the select leagues are the ticket right now, which is almost forcing kids and parents to look into off season training opportunities to help them compete at that level.”

Do you have a business mantra? “Customer Amazement!”

From a business standpoint, who do you look up to? “There are several, but the guy I look up to the most is Jon Huntsman. His book, “Winners Never Cheat” is one that humbled and truly inspired me.”

What was the best advice you ever received? “Focus on what you can control and don’t waste time on what you can’t. Let God handle those things.”

What’s the funniest thing that ever happened to you in your career? “The first time I ever gave a group pitching lesson I was so into what I was teaching that I forgot about the mound that was behind me which I then tripped over and fell flat on my face!”

What do you like to do in your free time? “Spending time with my wife and kids is always at the top of the list, but I also love to take in a ballgame, read, listen to music, travel and watch movies.”
